Portside Escape - Hotel Quality Linen

Pleasant and refreshing stay. ^^ Positive: It has everything that we needed. Good view, fresh air, no smoking smell, the facility is clean and bright, large bed, nice kitchen with high quality crockery, dinnerware, cutlery and glassware. It even has a washing machine. Clean bathroom and toilet. The Welcome File has clear instructions. The managing staff is very responsive and helpful. Upstairs is tenanted and we have been asked to be quiet after 10pm is reasonable. So close to the centre of Lyttelton town, walking distance. It is nice and close to go to Diamond Harbour via ferry, can use Metro Card. Negative: Just minor-it would be nice to give the metal bed frame headboard a wipe, a bit dusty. The carpark area is a bit steep and has to be careful going out and in as a bit hard to see if vehicle is coming.

Peaceful Positive: The studio has everything required, is well insulated and is very quiet. The bed is exceptionally comfortable, the garden lovely and the views are spectacular. Negative: It is quite compact, with not a lot of space to hang clothes or spread open a suitcase, but that is perfectly OK for a single traveller. Like everything Lyttelton it is a steep block and steep walk up from the cafes etc, so is not the ideal site for mobility-impaired visitors.

Wonderful stay, clean and modern in a great location. Positive: Great location, clean and modern. Very comfortable bed. The space is very well thought out with everything you could possibly need. Also great to have off street parking which is rare in Lyttelton. The location can’t be beat. Walking distance to everywhere. Negative: The entry door is quite low. My husband hit his head a few times entering even while ducking (quite bad on one occasion). He is 6’2” so taller than average. Not sure what could be done about that though. Just something for others to watch out for.

A great wee place close to town. Small but adequate for what you need. Positive: Lovely and clean unit with modern amenities. Negative: Door mechanism was strange but managed to finally work it out. Locking was a bit of a mission. Plunger coffee or possible a pod coffee machine would be a good addition to this unit.
